Tips to ensure longer lasting candles

Each candle is individually hand poured, although every effort is made to ensure consistency, every candle will be different.

During the first burn of your candle, create a nice burn pool by allowing enough time (2-3 hours – large candle jars) for the candle wax to become completely melted across the top and to the edge of the glass jar. If you don’t allow enough time for the candle to burn across the top, you may get wax remaining on the sides of the glass jar, referred to as tunnelling.

Remove any mushrooming of the wick left from the previous burn, before you re-light your candle. Recommended burn time, after the first burn, is no longer than 4 hours at a time.

WICK
Always trim the wick to about 1cm before burning. Be careful not to over-trim your wick as you may not be able to re-light your candle. If you don’t trim the wick regularly or if the candle is in a draft or left to burn too long, you may get a “mushroom” of carbon on the end of the wick. This may cause a little soot to collect on the inside of the container. If this happens, extinguish your candle, wait for it to cool, wipe off the carbon marks with a clean damp cloth and re-light.

Extinguish your candle by dipping the wick into the melted wax and straighten, this will stop the wick smoking and will help with re-lighting the next time. Discontinue burning when there is approx. 1cm of wax left in the bottom.

SOY WAX
When using completely natural soy wax, sometimes darker patches or wet spots appear in the candle jar. This is not a fault, simply a small blemish where the wax has not adhered to the glass 100%, which can be caused due to the temperature when drying and it does not effect your candle in any way. The top of your candle may also appear slightly uneven, this is also a sign of natural soy wax being hand poured. Don’t leave your candle in direct sunlight as the soy wax may become discoloured, this does not effect the fragrance or how the candle burns.

REMEMBER
Keep out of reach of children and furry friends.
Never leave a lit candle unattended.
Burn candle in a well ventilated room away from drafts.
Never burn on or near anything that can catch on fire.
Ensure the candle sits on a solid and heat-resistant surface.
